Monogram Speedy 30. Out of style, or classic?
Dear Person in Need of a Fashion History Lesson,
Louis Vuitton created the Speedy in 1932 as a carry-all bag for the urban woman. Side Note: this is not to be confused with the Noe, which is also worth Googling/buying. The Noe was also created in 1932 as a a bag for champagne vintners to carry their bottles in. I have two, it’s whatever. Back to the Speedy, which quickly became a forever-iconic accessory, despite being carried to death by Jessica Simpson/other irrelevant celebrities/everyone that ever existed. Basically it’s a handbag that every girl should own by the time she’s four. The fact that you don’t already have one makes me not want to trust you, but it also makes me think you could be chic? I can’t decide. The good news is that you don’t have to go straight regular monogram 30 Speedy if you’re not totally inclined–you have options when it comes to choosing one that reflects the true essence of your soul. For example:
Are you traditional?
Are you a free spirit?
Are you Asian?
Are you obsessed with Asians?
Are you boringly dependable?
Are you bipolar?
Are you a total control freak?
Are you a lesbian?
Are you a hopeless romantic? AKA more of a texter and less of a textee?
Are you kind of schizophrenic?
Are you a virgin?
Are you butch?
Are you a walking nightmare of a human being?
I own all of these because I’m mercurial. I need options. But it’s good for you to know that you’re not limited to just one choice when it comes to owning the Speedy of your dreams. Just know that they’re best suited as gym bags and that’s it.
