Ask Babe: Not Jealous?

Dear Babe,

My sister and I are basically obsessed with you and think you are totally hilarious. We follow your regimes religiously and have taken to saying “chic” on the regular. However it seems my sister has taken your skinny mantra to a whole new level, the girl is like Portia Rossi during one of her serious lows. Don’t worry I love Portia now though. I realize that I sound crazy jealous that she’s thinner than I am, but trust me I’m not a pathetic idiot. I’m just genuinely worried. Anyways what I am asking is that you declare how “un-chic” it is to have the body of a like an 8 year old boy. Seriously, she’s naked in front of me right now and you can see her ovaries.

Sincerely,

A*****

Dear Evil Person,

Hey. What’s up? How are you? Because from the sound of you’re email, you seem like you might be a miserable wretch of a human being. Don’t get me wrong, I’m obsessed with how obsessed you and your sister are with me and my life/blog/everything. But it’s pretty clear to me that you are pretending to be concerned about your sister’s well being, when in reality you are concerned that you look fat while standing next to her. Am I right? Because I think I’m right.

It’s true, one can definitely be toooooooo skinny. There is no doubt about that. I certainly don’t condone going so far as to look like Portia in the picture above. That level of “skinny” is not the skinny that I deem beautiful, chic, and healthy. Portia certainly has had her dark moments and I’m so proud of her for coming out of it. I’m also so proud of Ellen for really being there for her. We should all be so lucky.

Anyway, I digress. As long as your sister is healthy, happy and having fun. She deserves your love and support. I’ve never had a sister, but if I did, I would certainly hope that she would be happy for me when I achieved my goal weight. You feel me?

LOVE YOU. MEAN IT.

I thought your response was rash, Babe. This girl obviously was just trying to get your attention and support to help her sister get back to a healthy weight. I think its the exact opposite of jealousy…Its just that you are someone who she listens to and respects, and if YOU tell her its dangerous to drop so much weight, then she might actually take it to heart and gain positive control over her body. just a thought.

Yeah…and this girl wrote to Babe to get help for her sister like Elliot Spitzer “writes in” to call girls to help him cope with stress.
