Today I had to put my little dog of 10 years down. He was my baby. How do I cope?
Dear Sad & Alone,
I’m not going to tell you to get drunk, do drugs, go on a cleanse, shave your head, wear all black, live in a remote Himalayan town for a month, or get a newer, smaller dog, but I will say that all options can substantially ease the pain of grief. I’m so sorry for your loss. Death is one of life’s hardest lessons. Dogs die, ponies die, Shamans die, etc. Sometimes there’s nothing you can do except throw an expensive funeral, write a beautiful commemorative poem and wear a really intense Rick Owens look…or a Dries look. Whatever is more “you.” Oh and find a good taxidermist.
