Babe On Film: Girl Model

Do you hate yourself? Do you want to be traumatized? Do you want to watch the darkest documentary about modeling that has ever existed?  If you answered “yes” to all three of these questions, then you’ll love Girl Model. Basically it follows fourteen year-old Nadya as she’s plucked out of obscurity in Siberia by Ashley, the most psychotic modeling scout that’s ever existed, and sent to Japan to try to break into the Asian market. This movie was recommended to me on Netflix Instant about a month ago, and I won’t say much else about it, but I will say that I’ve seen both my therapist and Shaman every day since I watched it.

Susan (therapist) keeps telling me that in order to truly let something go, you have to make the conscious decision to release it, and Steve (Shaman) keeps telling me that spitting goat blood in my face will free me of the shadow this film has cast over my being, but I’m thinking that sharing the darkness that is Girl Model with others will allow the universe to shed some light onto my bruised soul. I guess only time will tell.

Babe I watched this a few months ago, it made me have feelings.
Also, Ashley was a highlight of the film for me, with her psycho baby dolls and 90s Japanese modeling clips.
I’d rate this film a 4 out of 5 Birkins.

Netflix recommended this to me too and I just couldn’t look away. My sister thought I was crazy for making her watch… so glad you posted about it!
