The Polar Vortex lowered the temperatures in LA from 75 to 69, so I did what I always do when there is a nip in the air, hunkered down in my living room, wrapped myself in a cashmere throw, had my interns bring in 6 space heaters and prepared my favorite cold weather treat, this recipe for my Hot Kale Juice. Even though hot juice is basically just soup, I always make sure to professionally bottle it before drinking, because my nutritionist told me that it’s been proven that drinking things out of bottles is healthier than eating them from bowls, duh.
Babe’s Cold Weather Hot Kale Juice
5 bunches young kale
The juice of one lemon
1 teaspoon dandelion root extract
1 habanero pepper seed
1 Vitamix Professional Series 750
If you don’t have a Vitamix Professional Series, order one stat. Once it’s arrived, take it out of its box and assemble according to the provided instructions. Delicately remove leaves from kale, saving the stalks for making stock later. Place kale and the individual habanero pepper seed into your Vitamix, set the machine to the soup program and pulse to your desired consistency (this can take between 30 seconds and 30 minutes depending on personal preference). Finish with the lemon juice, pulse three more times, transfer into individual bottles, hermetically seal the top, and finish with a personalized label if desired.
Enjoy!
