Yesterday I was bored, listless, and depressed that my Malibu house didn’t come together the way I thought it would, so I decided to go see Moonrise Kingdom. I figured it would be right up my alley, since it features a girl who is super skinny/depressed/wears lots of eye makeup. I mean she’s basically Gwyneth circa Royal Tenenbaums, but she’s 12, so she’s skinnier. Chic. I won’t say much about this movie, other than that it’s a total reinvigoration of Wes Anderson’s brand as a person, and I loved it. So if you’re not traveling, or celebrating Memorial Day in a glam locale, you should have a good cry, then make your boyfriend take you to see this movie, then break up with him.
